The Habit Manifesto

The 'habit manifesto' you'll find below has been creatively rewritten and adapted from an original online version published by an unknown source. It points to the undeniable link that exists between conscious intent and the wild and seemingly unruly powers of the subconscious mind. Who controls who? Each one of us gets to decide...

Who Am I?

I am your humble companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden - imagine. I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command - your devil or saviour.

Half of the things you do, you might as well turn over to me; for I can do them quickly and correctly - I am easily managed you see. You must be firm and show me exactly how it’s done; after a few lessons I’ll do it automatically - while you stay on the run.

I am the servant of all great people; and alas of all failures too. Those who are great and those who fail - do you think it a coincidence?

Boo!

I am not a machine, though I work with uncanny precision and intelligence combined; you may run me for profit or run me for ruin, I’m here by you to be shaped and designed.

Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you and ensure your defeat.

Who am I?

Habit of course!

Step out of the mind to shape me and you'll have no cause for remorse.
