Commit to Change Your Life

Commitment is the first ingredient to CHASE the inspired life changes you're after. Rather than bondage, commitment is what frees you to change your life. Until you commit, you aren't really free to change.

Remember that.

The question to ask yourself in changing your life is this:

What can I commit to?

Knowing that commitment is the very agent of life change, ask yourself what you can commit to. Let's say, for example, that you're getting tired of your career and that you feel some big changes are in order. You know that with commitment - changes will take place.

You're just not sure at this point what those changes are going to look like. You're maintaining an open mind.

First ask yourself if you can commit, or recommit, to your current job. How would that look like? What would have to happen in order to enable you to recommit to your job or line of work without having to quite or change careers?

If you can satisfactorily answer these questions you may not be looking at a career change after all. This doesn't mean your life isn't going to change however. You've changed your life by simply recommitting to it! Now that you know what needs to happen, you're finally free to let go of resentments, hesitancy, fear, regret or anything else that has been weighing you down.

You're newly committed and have been freed to change in ways you've been wanting to for a long time.

What if you couldn't find any good answers to the questions above? In this case, you're now able to commit to a change of job, line of work or even career. How do you know you're committed?

You already feel free. The actual changes may take time to unfold - but in spirit, it's already done!

In answering the question, 'what can I commit to?' - you've also had to answer two secondary questions that are folded into it. You've had to answer to, 'what do I really want?' and 'what can stop me from getting it?'

Being committed means knowing what you want and knowing that nothing can stop you from getting it!

A career change was just an example of course. You can apply this to relationships, international travel and relocation, starting a business, becoming self-employed or any other significant life changes you're thinking about or wanting to make.

Humor to Change Your Life



Hand-in-hand with commitment comes humor. It's easy to get too serious about the life changes you want to make. Seriousness is important to bring to the life changes you want; but rigidity is counter productive.

Humor helps soften rigidity by providing you with perspective.

Drinking five teaspoons of salt dissolved in a cup of water may taste awful. Yet, drink the same five teaspoons dissolved into a fresh water pond or lake and you'll hardly taste it at all. That's what humor and perspective can do for you in pursuit of inspired life change.

In nature we see how creatures that adapt to change - evolve; while others that don't - perish.

As human beings, we need to 'change with change' too if we are to survive - nay, thrive - in a world that is constantly on the move. Yet, our capabilities reach further than mere adaptation to life changing around us.

As a human being you possess an additional power and ability (a response-ability) to change and adapt proactively. You can command changes of your own conscious design. You can use foresight and insight to bring about changes you're after.

Your ability to adapt - to accommodate the life changes you want -  is guided by these two questions:


  • What adaptations are required?

  • Am I up to it? Can I change as needed?


We often doubt our ability to change. We wonder if we can. It is Einstein who defined insanity as...

In the name of sanity, you must believe in your ability to do things differently for a change.

Adapt-ability is exactly that - an ability. As such, it can be acquired, sharpened or developed. Your adaptability muscles - like any other muscles of the body - can be stretched or strengthened. You can systematically and deliberately train and practice before you ever need them - so that when the time comes your mental physique is ready.

It would be a shame to watch your commitment suffer just because you're too stiff to actually carry out the changes you say you want. Strength without flexibility will be no good to you. Flexibility without strength also won't do. To be at your best - both inner-strength and flexibility will be needed.

With your mental physique both supple and strong; turning attention to other skills now wouldn't be wrong...


Skill/s to Change Your Life



Adaptation isn't often thought of as an ability or a skill that can be acquired or developed  - yet, it's right there in the name - adapt-ability. The more practiced you are at the skill of adaptation - the more efficient and effective inspired life changes are going to be.

The ultimate self help skill of stepping out of the mind, as well as, knowing how to skillfully work with the creative powers of the subconscious mind - are two life changing skills that will serve you well on the path to practically any life change you're after.

Beyond these two fundamental life-changing skills, however, there may very well be other skills you'll need or want to develop. An honest skill assessment is helpful at this point:


  • What skills are required to achieve the life change I'm after?
  • What skills do I already have? What skills need to be honed? And what skills need to be developed from scratch?


Honestly assess your current skills and/or skill level. Do you already have the skills required to achieve your goal? Will you need to raise your game in a skill already possessed? Or perhaps you'll need to learn a new skill entirely - attempting something you've never done before.

Skill is the armor that protects you from bouts of self-sabotage and attack. It'll protect you from the arrows of self-doubt and insecurity, which we all launch at ourselves when stepping out of comfort zones and trying something new. When your skill level is high and/or when skills are abundant, the ego is less likely to enter the picture - trying to compensate for a real (or perceived) lack of actual ability.

Skill is liberating. It liberates you from an ego that otherwise would step-in to compensate when you're feeling 'weak' or 'inadequate' to the task at hand. When you're truly skilled at something, you aren't defensive about it. You feel confident in yourself and your ability to accomplish what's necessary.

The greater your skill and the more skills you have - the more committed, adaptable and creative you'll be.


Enthusiasm to Change Your Life



As you become more committed, skilled and adaptable in the name of the inspired life changes you're after, you'll find enthusiasm welling up quite naturally in you. Rather than struggling to change your life, you'll find yourself enjoying it more and more.

To be 'enthused' means to be "inspired or possessed by a God". Enthusiasm is the inspiration in inspired life change - the very theme of this life change website. As you become increasingly adept at working with your body and mind; as you become increasingly skilled at creating the life changes you want, there'll be no escaping the enthusiasm that ensues.
